Hollywood unequivocally loves to do book-to-movie adaptations and 2022 is no exception.

BLONDE by Joyce Carol Oates
This highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates, ‘Blonde’ will star Ana De-Armas as Hollywood star, Marilyn Monroe. Blonde is a fictionalized depiction of Monroe’s life and is set to be released on Netflix, September 28th.
The film also stars Bobby Cannavale and Adrien Brody, whilst not much has been released about the film, the trailer gives us a glimpse into the glamorous but tragic life of the elusive Marilyn Monroe. Fans can expect drama, tragedy and an insight into the cost of beauty and fame.
DAISY JONES AND THE SIX by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This New York Times Bestseller book-to-movie adaptation is hitting our screens at the end of this year on Amazon Prime. Daisy Jones And The Six follows the story of the band’s rise to fame and the LA-based singer songwriter Daisy (Riley Keough) and her tumultuous relationship with The Six Frontman Billy Dune (Sam Claflin).
Without giving too much away, the film explores the reason for the band’s split at the height of their success and is supposedly partly inspired by the author’s experiences of growing up watching Fleetwood Mac. The film’s executive producers include Reese Witherspoon and the author herself, Taylor Jenks Reid. If you’re a music lover or just love a good drama, this film will be one to watch!
BULLET TRAIN by Kotaro Isaka
Imagine if five of the most deadly and highly trained assassins ended up on the same train with different targets?
If you’re looking for an action packed comedy that will keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further than Bullet Train! Bullet Train by Kotaro Isaka has been adapted for the screen by director David Leitch and has a stellar cast that includes Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Logan Lerman, Sandra Bullock.
The main question is why are they all on the same train and who will make it out alive? You’ll have to watch it to find out! Bullet Train opens in Australian Cinemas on the 4th August.
‘SHE SAID’ by Jodi Kantor & Megan Twohey
This upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Maria Schrader. ‘She Said’ is based upon the non-fiction story about the two New York Times Reporters, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey who broke the Harvey Weinstein story and spurred the Me-Too movement.
The film stars Zoe Kazan and Carey Mulligan as the two reporters and also includes actors Patricia Clarkson, Andrew Braugher, Samantha Morton, Tom Pephrey and Adam Shapiro.
This film will no doubt give us insight into how Kantor and Twohey investigated and broke the article that changed Hollywood.
The film is set to be released Friday, 28th November 2022.
THE WONDER by Emma Donoghue
This upcoming psychological thriller stars Florence Pugh and is based on the book by Emma Donoghue who also wrote Room (which starred Brie Larson). The film is inspired by the 19th century phenomenon of the ‘fasting girls.’
Florence Pugh plays the role of Lib, a young English nurse who is brought to the tiny Irish village where 11-year-old Anna O’Donnell has stopped eating but mysteriously remains alive and well. This unique and thrilling story directed by Sebastian Lelio will be sure to have audience members intrigued and engrossed in this book-to-film adaptation.
The film will be released this year so keep your eyes out for the date.
