AIDC comes to the Sunshine Coast!

For the first time ever, the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) comes to the Sunshine Coast with Regionality Sunshine Coast!

The AIDC and Screen Queensland are bringing Australia’s biggest documentary conference to the Sunshine Coast for the first time ever.

Titled ‘Regionality Sunshine Coast’, the premier documentary and factual industry event promises to be a day packed with exclusive insights, award-winning speakers, and invaluable networking opportunities.

The packed one-day program includes exclusive insights into crafting award-winning character docs, detail on the elusive art of pitching, information on factual formats and new discoveries, and insights into First Nations storytelling and engaging audiences with impact.

The program is lead by Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine, the Emmy and Sundance award-winning US documentarians behind Boys State, The Mission, Mayor Pete, The Overnighters and Girls State.

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said “It is a wonderful opportunity for the documentary industry to gather, learn and upskill to ensure Australia continues to make impactful real stories where truth is as powerful or even stranger than fiction. It’s also a chance to showcase Queensland’s accomplished and flourishing documentary and factual creators, alongside national and international industry leaders.”

There are sessions featuring top Queensland factual filmmakers, discussions with Indigenous creatives, an interactive pitching session (titled ‘The Art of the Pitch), and strategies for connecting with wider audiences. Mixed in amongst all of this are curated 1:1 meetings and networking opportunities with industry reps, and panel discussions with Paramount ANZ, Screen Australia, ABC, SBS, Doc Society and Screen Queensland.

Regionality Sunshine Coast comes to the Maroochy RSL in Maroochydore on Friday 26 July 2024, from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm. More information can be found, and tickets can be purchased, at the link below.
