Japanese Film Festival Online
With Omicron racing across the country, and plenty of us having to be shut inside isolating for a week or two, it might seem tough to get our hands on new, exciting international film options. But fear not! The Japanese Film Festival is here, online, to solve your dilemma.
The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) in Australia is an annual film festival that has been presented by The Japan Foundation, Sydney since 1997. The first-ever Japanese Film Festival Online was held across five continents and 20 countries from November 2020 to March 2021.
2021 marked the 25th year of JFF Australia, offering newly-released Japanese titles along with rare 35 and 16mm film screenings. The JFF Satellite Program also tours a hand-picked selection of Japanese films across Australia.
Mark these dates in your diary, because the Japanese Film Festival (JFF Online 2022) is presenting a FREE Film Festival in early 2022: from 14 to 27 February.
Japanese Film Festival Director, Yurika Sugie said, “The international Festival program of hot new feature films and well-loved favourites direct from Japan, is being streamed to Australia, as part of a global initiative where 25 countries around the world will be able to see these great films at the same time.”
Japanese Film Festival Programmer, Susan Bui said, “Australians across the country can now enjoy some really cutting-edge cinema straight from Japan. The program includes hair-raising thrillers, wholesome comedies, powerful dramas, insightful documentaries and more”
JFF Online 2022, marks the second time The Japan Foundation Sydney has presented a FREE Australia-wide film Festival, with the first offered in 2020 during the first year of the pandemic.
